Visa Information

Spain is a member of the Schengen Area, therefore a visa is required for nationals of certain countries.
Participants who require a visa to travel to Spain are advised to follow the guidelines below.

Visit official resources

Always refer to the official websites of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or the European Commission for comprehensive and up-to-date information on entry requirements, visa applications and required documentation.

Review visa requirements

Participants should check whether they require a Schengen visa or, if travelling from a visaexempt country, an ETIAS travel authorisation, depending on their nationality.

Early application

If a visa is required, we strongly recommend starting the application process well in advance, as processing times may vary depending on the country of application.

Provide accurate information

When completing the visa or travel authorisation application, please ensure that all information is accurate and consistent with the details provided during conference registration.

Supporting documents

Applicants may be required to provide supporting documents, including:

  • A valid passport
  • Conference registration confirmation or invitation letter
  • Proof of registration payment
  • Accommodation details
  • Travel itinerary
  • Proof of sufficient financial means, if requested

ETIAS – Travel Authorisation

Citizens of visa-exempt countries will be required to obtain an ETIAS travel authorisation prior to travelling to Spain. ETIAS is not a visa and must be applied for online before departure.

EES – Entry/Exit System

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an electronic system that records the entry and exit of non-EU travellers to the Schengen Area and replaces passport stamping. Biometric data (facial image and fingerprints) will be collected at the border.

Invitation letters

During the conference registration process, participants will have the option to request an invitation letter, which is often required for visa applications. Once registration is completed and payment is confirmed, the invitation letter will be issued to support the visa application process.

Additional assistance

For specific questions regarding visa or entry requirements, participants should contact the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.
