“NetworldEurope Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda 2026”
Date, hour and room to be defined
Session Chair:
- Jyrki Huusko (NetworldEurope / VTT, FI)

- Rui Luis Aguiar (NetworldEurope / IT-Aveiro, PT)
During the years, the NetworldEurope European Technology Platform’s (ETP) Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) has been the main technical reference point for Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) calls and in a central position for shaping Horizon Europe’s research objectives for telecommunications in other instances. It has been also widely available for the global community as a reference document for key research challenges in ICT. Identifying multiple technological challenges and key aspects of relevance for future research, this public document is regularly used to derive priority aspects for research in Europe.
Published bi-annually, the 2026 version is going through major structural changes beyond a mere facelift compared to the 2024 edition. The update frequency that the SRIA has (unusual in comparison with other ETPs) reflects the fast-moving environment of communications, both in terms of technological and societal transformations. As we expect the new SRIA 2026 to become instrumental for the longer-term research perspective towards the next European Framework Program (FP10), in the transition to which we are now entering in the European Union, it would be essential to highlight different research topics identified for telecommunication systems and services in the SRIA, and to pinpoint the major targets towards 2028-2035. This Convened Session aims to provide an overview of work and insights to the participants and to contribute to a European consensus on research priorities.

The session will feature one generic keynote on the SRIA orientations, and a set of presentations of the different sections of the technical annex. The speakers will be the editors of the SRIA (or their deputies).
