Critical communications and public safety – National and European Perspectives
Tuesday, 19 June 2018, 16:30-18:00, Štih hall
Session Chair:
- Sanja Holen (Public Safety Communications Europe, BE)
Live EU Interoperable mobile systems are expected to be developed and released for use by PPDR responders within the 2025 timeframe allowing them access to rich broadband mobile services over commercial networks. But public safety requires that these services are implemented and operated to provide essential ‘mission critical’ class of service maintaining consistent levels of availability, regardless of the nature of the public safety situation, or geopolitical circumstance. The special session will aim at presenting the needs and requirements of the PPDR sector, the standardisation progress for critical mobile communications and the solutions that 5G offers both with national plans and European perspective. This transition to shared infrastructure requires also safeguards related to preemption and priority rules. Presenters are deeply involved in bringing 5G to public safety in order to improve the level of services of PPDR communications.
