One of the key technologies expected to play a central role in this transformation is network slicing. Slicing allows for the creation of customized, highly reliable, and secure network environments tailored to specific use cases, particularly in healthcare, where the demands for reliability, security, and resilience are paramount. We want to explore the multifaceted applications of 5G and beyond, focussing on how slicing technology can be leveraged as a multipurpose device for various health-related.
Use cases, while also addressing the critical concerns of postquantum cryptography (PQC) and the evolving threat landscape within the healthcare sector.
The special session addresses the role of 5G slicing networks in enhancing real-time medical data integration, reliability, and secure communication. The potential of post-quantum cryptography will be discussed, focussing on its application to protect sensitive health data from quantum computing threats. The session will include the presentation of an innovative prototype: the 5G Mobile Patient Health Interface (PHI) Adapter, a tangible, realworld prototype that demonstrates the power of 5G in improving patient care and data interoperability.
This cutting-edge solution addresses the critical need for medical device interoperability, especially in emote healthcare settings, by connecting health information systems with hospital-grade devices via cellular networks. Through this real-time integration, we demonstrate the power of 5G slicing networks to facilitate continuous health data transfer, using a FHIR server for easy data visualization and monitoring. Additionally, the session will address NIST2 requirements for implementing post-quantum cryptography in healthcare, focusing on the unique challenges of securing medical systems. As an example of the use of innovative technologies, we will present our EU-funded PAROMA-MED project (from June 2022 to June 2025) https://paroma-med.eu/, which develops innovative technologies and services to ensure privacy and security in healthcare data while enabling high-performance AI/ML workflows. PAROMA creates a hybrid-cloud framework for federated cross-border environments, integrating privacy-by-design principles, secure data storage, and federated identity management. A key use case focuses on improving cardiac imaging analysis using federated learning to enhance model generalization across clinical datasets, ultimately aiming to improve medical diagnoses and treatment outcomes. We look forward to engaging with participants and pushing the boundaries of healthcare innovation at the EuCNC & 6G Summit in Poznan.

Program:

This Special Session will address the need for a unified safe, secure and resilient European critical infrastructure for data distribution and integration in line with relevant European regulations, standards and frameworks. It will dive an overview over current state of play and relevant requirements for the upcoming three years.

11:00 – 11:10: Keynote talk by Carles Anton-Haro

11:10 – 11:20: Talk by Prof. Christoph Thuemmler, 6G Health Association, DE
Title of the talk:
Towards a European Health Data Slice

11:20 – 11:30: Talk by Prof. Rui Aguiar, University of Aveiro, PT
Title of the talk:
Network Design: Egineering the EHDSL

11:30 – 11:40: Talk by Ashish Sundar, 6G Health Institute, DE
Title of the talk:
FHIRPHI, Personal Health Interface and Communication with FHIR

11:40 – 11:50: Talk by Pooja Mohnani, Eurescom, DE
Title of the talk:

European Health Data Slice and the evolving European Health Data Space and the use case of the PAROMA-MED Project

11:50 – 12:00: Talk by Callum Turino, Edinburgh Napier Univ. and , Vladislav Chesnokov, 6GHA
Title of the talk:
Quantum Robust Data Traffic in the European Health Data Slice

12:00 – 12:10: Talk by Markus Dillinger, Automotive Association, Huawei
Title of the talk:
Forming a 6G Health Association

12:10 – 12:30: Panel Discussion

Miguel Gonzalez-Sancho (European Commission)

Prof. Dirk Wilhelm (Klinikum rechts der Isar)

Ashish Sundar (6G Health Institute)

Christoph Thuemmler (Erzgebirgsklinikum)

Operator/vendor TBC

["post-1131","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
