THE DAUPHINOIS MUSEUM<\/h3>\n

No need to be a nun to enjoy popular local art in this convent ! Dominating the city from the Bastille\u2019s slopes,\u00a0the Dauphinois Museum<\/a>\u00a0is settled in the Sisters of the Visitation\u2019s convent. It is more than everything dedicated to popular cultures and human beings of the Dauphin\u00e9 Alps.<\/p>\n

Certified as a historical monument, the convent has been built at the beginning of the 17th\u00a0by Saint-Francois de Sales and Sainte-Jeanne de Chantal. Nevertheless, nothing was constant with its personal history. It used to be a religious home, it served as a prison, barracks.<\/p>\n

In addition to the\u00a0permanent exhibits\u00a0like the People of the Alps dealing rural mountain life through the centuries, the Dauphinois Museum hosts a plethora of events connected to the \u00ab\u00a0Dauphin\u00e9 region\u00a0\u00bb, the Alps, the history of foreign communities in the area, and more. From\u00a0the convent\u2019s gardens\u00a0(open to the public), you can enjoy a pleasant view of the city old neighborhood, the banks of the\u00a0Isere river, and the surrounding mountains.<\/p>\n<\/div>
