Many try defining 6G requirement specifications now already, however, at this early stage, many technologies are being considered at the various system and network levels, ranging from the radio interface and new antenna features to new network architectures and an increased softwarisation, among many other aspects. Academics and industries are already fully emerged in the development of 6G, and many countries and world regions have already established the corresponding research programmes. Fettweis is Vodafone Chair Professor at TU Dresden since 1994 and founding director of the Barkhausen Institute since 2018. He earned his Ph.D. under H. Meyr from RWTH Aachen in 1990. After being postdoc at IBM Research, San Jose, CA, he moved to TCSI Inc., Berkeley, CA. He coordinates the 5G Lab Germany. In 2019 he was elected to the DFG Senate. His research focusses on wireless transmission and chip design for wireless\/IoT platforms, with 20 companies from Asia\/Europe\/US sponsoring his research. He also serves on the board of National Instruments Corp and advises other companies. Gerhard is member of the German Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina), the German Academy of Engineering (acatech), and received multiple IEEE recognitions as well has the VDE ring of honour and the Semi Europe award. He is Deputy head of unit in the European Commission DG CONNECT where he has been steering EU wireless R&amp;I for more than 20 years. He currently leads the definition and implementation with industry of the European R&amp;I programme \u201cSmart Networks and Services (6G)\u201d covering the 2021-2027 time frame. Main responsibilities cover strategic R&amp;D planning and implementation for beyond 5G\/6G systems, standardisation, international cooperation, demonstration and pilot programmes. He is vice chairman of the Steering committee of the EUCNC conference, and has an engineering degree from the \u201cEcole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des T\u00e9l\u00e9communications de Bretagne\u201d. He joined Motorola in 1990 after receiving his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, Dallas. Since joining Motorola he worked on multiple wireless technologies starting from IS-95, cdma-2000, 1xEV-DV\/1XTREME, 1xEV-DO, UMTS, HSPA, 802.16e\/WiMAX and 3GPP LTE. He has 60 issued patents, has written multiple book chapters and has authored numerous external and internal technical papers. He is currently working on 5G Evolution and 6G technologies. Recently, he was elected chair of the NextGA (an US 6G initiative) National Roadmap Working Group. His research interests are in the area of digital communications, signal processing and wireless communications. He is the recipient of 2016 IEEE Stephen O. His current research interests are in B5G cellular networks, millimeter-wave communications, wireless energy transmission, V2X for automated driving, and super smart society. Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Dr. Tong was the Nortel Fellow and head of the Network Technology Labs at Nortel. He joined the Wireless Technology Labs at Bell Northern Research in 1995 in Canada. Dr. Tong is the industry recognized leader in invention of advanced wireless technologies, Dr. Tong was elected as a Huawei Fellow and an IEEE Fellow. He was the recipient of IEEE Communications Society Industry Innovation Award in 2014, and IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Industry Leader Award for \u201cpioneering technical contributions and leadership in the mobile communications industry and innovation in 5G mobile communications technology\u201d in 2018. He is also the recipient of R.A. Fessenden Medal. For the past three decades, he had pioneered fundamental technologies from 1G to 5G wireless with more than 530 awarded US patents. Marja completed her Doctor of Science degree in communications engineering in 2012, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in industrial engineering and management in 2018 at the University of Oulu. She has been conducting multi-disciplinary research into the technical, business, and regulatory aspects of future mobile communication systems in close collaboration with industry, academia, and regulators for over two decades. Marja has coordinated several national research project consortia that have successfully demonstrated new technology including the world\u2019s first licensed shared access (LSA) spectrum sharing trials and the introduction of a new local 5G operator concept, which has become a reality in many countries. She has actively contributed to, and participated in, regulatory bodies at the national, Europe-an, and international levels. She also coordinated the preparation of twelve 6G White Papers at the 6G Flagship (the first White Papers on 6G in the world) and led the development of the White Paper on 6G Drivers and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
