Workshop Description

With the rapid development of mobile communications, driven by people’s exploding need for high-bandwidth wireless services and by the development of new markets such as the Internet of Things, smart terminal manufacturers, operators and other related industry stakeholders are faced with tantalizing dilemmas over spectrum, resources, energy, and profits. These needs will be met by creating a range of new technological capabilities that will drive innovation and business development. This will support a dependable future Internet of humans, knowledge and things and the development of a service universe. The challenge of this workshop is to identify the key business challenges that are posed by emergence of such 5G network technologies in the era beyond 2020. The workshop will focus on discussions of innovation, business and enterprise challenges. The following areas, among others, will be covered during the workshop:

  • Social, business and innovation challenges for the 5G
  • Innovation management and new business opportunities
  • Enabling applications by means of 5G technologies
  • The impact of new air interfaces and enabling technologies
  • Ubiquitous networks
  • Intelligent  regulation beyond 2020
  • Novel system concepts and architectures based on centralized and/or distributed principles
  • 5G requirements (e.g., in terms of performance, regulation, spectrum, etc.)
