Abstract

5G will not only provide a tremendous improvement of wireless networks capacity. It should first help to enhance the experience of our customers where and when it matters. This keynote will start from covering the need to have a consistent experience in daily life situations such as being at the border of a cell or in a high environmental quality building stopping radio waves, switching between different wireless technologies, or travelling in a high speed train. It will also give an overview of the specificities of connected objects user experience, especially the issues around energy management. Then, it will rapidly go through new emerging trends around personalization and adaptation of network performance to end user services. This vision will only be possible if we consider end-to-end system aspects beyond radio. We will conclude by a discussion on such system aspects like Network Function Virtualization and the related operational challenges.
